FUNKY FEMALE FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT TEAM

Frimley Green Youth Centre, Surrey Heath Borough Council, France Hill School & Tomlinscote School 'working together'

AIM.....to provide developmental football opportunities for young women in a safe and FUN learning environment

BACKGROUND.....the funky female football development team was established in 1999 to provide football opportunities for young women, especially those young women who have little or no experience of football. Despite female football being the largest 'growth ' sport in the country there is still a definite lack of opportunities for young women to explore this sport in the area. Whilst some opportunities are available the structure is very similar to that of lads football. The Funky Female Football Development Team recognises that the football needs of young women are very different to young men and in keeping with the tradition @ FGYC  WE DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY.

ACHIEVEMENTS.....over the last 12 months over 100 young women have been involved in this project.

through our work @ France Hill School female footy is now clearly on the school agenda

thanks to a lottery grant the project funded 3 staff        (2 female) to qualify as FA coaches

the project has been delivered through.....after school sessions, surrey youth games, holiday schemes, school PE lessons and inter school friendly games.
